Healthy Living: slipping

Vietnamese New Years went great! I went to the festival with my baby cousin and we had a really good time. Also, I made many new year resolution. I hope to be a better person in this coming new year and also a better student.

However, recently, I have been slipping in my eating habit. I consume a lot more sweets. I'm back at 130 lbs :( Which makes me sad. My weight fluctuate so much! I need to get back on the ladder and try to be in health shape. I haven't hit the gym in nearly 2 weeks and all of this celebration leads to excesses consuming of unhealthy food.

I want to be get back to the low 120s but I have not found any motivation lately. Midterms are coming on again, so most of my time are devoteded to it. I really need to buckle down and stop complaining about my circumstance. I need to suck it up. I'm a big girl now!! ARRGH!

So, let's try again. I can't get to the gym for the next few days, but I can watch what I eat. Hopefully, this will less the weight gain. I need to start eating healther. Gotta gain back motivation!!! :((

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU! or.. at least a BETTER VERSION!

Happy Vietnamese New Year!! :)

Happy Vietnamese New Year! :)

Today is a very important celebration in my culture. Vietnamese New Year is a 3 days event where we celebrate the new year! During this time, family members come together to celebrate the new found holidays. Children pay respect to their elders by wishing their family members a properous new year! And Elders show their appreciating by given children good luck money. This is the time of year were young girls and boy wear their new clothes to welcome the luck of the new year!

Most importantly, this is the time where we clean our houses and pay our respect to our ancestor. My mom cook and my dad clean. We burn incents to pray to our ancestor. We thank them for protecting us in the past year and hope they will continue to watch over us for this year to come. My family have celebrated this holidays for generations already. This tradition is enrooted in our culture and it has been around since my ancestor was alive. And now, my family continue this gracious tradition.

I wish you all luck for this new year! May you all find good health and have a prosperous new year! :)

Healthy living: Where to begin?

I don't know where too begin. Really.

It seem that I have been missing a lot of from this world of blogging, but I miss you guys!
I guess, I can divide this into compartment and share you with my experience.

Firstly, school.
Since the start of the quarter, life has been a big RUSH!! I had 3 midterms on the 3rd week of the quarter so I had to started studying the for them. Also, the week before midterms, I had to go to Carmel conference to present my research project. Therefore, traveling for it was a pain. It was fun expierence, but I was so frantic with my up coming midterm that I did not find time to enjoy the nice environment of Carmel.

(My Hotel Room view of the beach at Carmel)

(Flying toward Carmel)

Then the midterms came. One after another. It was overwhelming studying for them, and I did nothing but study for them. My life was extremely inactive. If I can sum it up to you, I was basically eating and studying. Sleep was optional and sometime a luxury I could not even afford. It was extremely tough and stressful in that time, but I remain strong. I didn't get sick and I can't be more thankful! It was so lucky I was not sick.

(basically, this is how dead I look for most of the week. I know...)

Basically, I was on a really bad eating style and my caffeine consumption is horrendous. Either way, I don't know what more to say than that. I basically study by butt off. But during this trip, I also met some great and interesting people. Either way, I am so glad I got out of this week alive. But I'm sure there are more hectic week to come.

So, the reason for my absent of blogging is that during the past 3 consecutive week, I was struggling to make sure that everything fall into places. I tried to get ready for my midterm and for the trip to Carmel. I became a dead zombie, but a happy and alive one. :)

Second, Friends:
I have talked with many of my old high school friends lately. We haven't talked for years. And now, suddenly, we are calling each other and starting conversation. Its amazing how much college has changed people. But one thing we still have in common and that is we all still have very unsucessful love life. hahaha

But it seems like many of my friends have been through a lot in college. Before, they were young and in this carefree environment of high school. But college have shifted their world and made into a new person. I can't speak if they did change for the better or not, but I know that they aren't the little boys and girls I use to know back then. I just hope they are doing well and will continue to prosper over any obstacles.

 (Graduation 2010)

But just looking at them, I know one thing for sure. I am not different from them. I have changed also and I hope I have become a better person. I am young and very naive. I still have a lot to learn, but I hope whatever I do in the future, I will be true to myself and do some good to this world before I leave. This is what I use to look like during senior year of high school. Are you ready!?!

(This is the way i dress and look like during senior year. 2010)

But now, enough of looking back. It's time for me to face the present to show you about what is going on in my life now. As I continue to struggle and raise my grades, I am also embarking on a new journey. I AM OFFICALLY STUDYING FOR THE MCAT! I have dreamt about this since my senior year of high school and its finally becoming a reality. I am studying for the MCAT. This is a very big deal to me because I have been dreaming for this days for years. I'm becoming a big girl.

(This is my MCAT Bundle)

Just looking at this, things just have seen to gotten real. I can't believe I'm studying for the MCAT. I still can't believe it. I'm studying for the MCAT. Wow, I just can't believe it.

This wraps it up. I'm studying for the MCAT. I hope to take my test at the end of this year.
